There are many points of contact between proverbs and art. Various educational projects and art projects use artistic representation to provide access to proverbs.
I discovered leather art during art therapy in a psychosomatic rehabilitation center through exhibits by Lederkunst Hoppe in Dobel. Here, for the first time, I translated sayings and metaphors that became important to me in dealing with my depression into leather pictures.
In my case, however, I don’t refer to it as “leather art,” but rather “vegan art.” Since sustainability is important to me, I already made custom shoes from plant-based materials such as wood, cactus, and cork when I was a shoemaker. The first vegan saying art was created from recycled shoe prototypes.
